Removal and installation

Remove the negative terminal from the battery. Remove the air filter housing.

Disconnect the vacuum hose from the throttle damper. Unscrew 2 fastening screws. Disconnect the throttle damper and remove it.

Installation is made in sequence, return to removal. If it is necessary to adjust the throttle damper, then remove the air filter housing, connect the connector to the intake air temperature sensor and the negative terminal to the battery.

Adjustment

Start the engine and warm up to operating temperature (before turning on the fan).

Remove the air filter housing. Remove the electrical connector from the radiator fan on temperature sensor. Close the contacts in the connector with an additional wire so that the radiator fan turns on permanently. Start the engine and hold it at 3000 rpm for 30 seconds. Then release the throttle and check the idle speed and mixture quality. Stop the engine.

Disconnect the throttle damper vacuum hose and connect the damper with a suitable length of pipe directly to the intake manifold. Start the engine and measure its revolutions. They must be greater than nominal. If the engine speed is not normal, then remove the seal from the upper part of the throttle damper housing and. by turning the adjusting screw, bring the speed back to normal (see fig. 4A.27).

After adjustment, stop the engine and install a new seal on the adjusting screw. Disconnect the tube from the inlet pipeline and connect the throttle damper vacuum hose.

Remove the jumper from the connector of the thermal sensor for turning on the radiator fan and turn the connector back on. Install the air filter, disconnect the tachometer, and the mixture quality meter.
