Removal


Remove the negative terminal from the battery. Working inside the vehicle, remove the accelerator cable from the pedal by lifting the pedal off the floor and loosening the cable, removing the rubber ring and then the cable itself from the groove in the pedal. Remove the accelerator cable through the bulkhead into the engine compartment (see Fig. 4A.5).

Remove the throttle cable from the carburetor.

Remove the mounting bracket using a lever. Separate the cable housing from the suspension and remove the accelerator cable.

Route the accelerator cable from the engine compartment into the passenger compartment through the bulkhead and connect the inner end of the accelerator cable to the pedal.



Install the sealing ring into the bulkhead and insert the cable sheath into the bulkhead.

Connect the accelerator cable to the carburetor. Secure the accelerator cable housing to the head cover.

The assistant should press the accelerator pedal all the way down and hold it in this position. By moving the accelerator cable housing in the sealing ring, set the carburetor valve to the fully open position. Secure the accelerator cable hanger and release the accelerator pedal.

Press the accelerator pedal fully and then release it, making sure that the throttle opens and closes completely. Reinstall the air filter and reconnect the negative battery terminal.
