The fuel system on carbureted models includes a rear-mounted fuel tank, a mechanical fuel pump, a carburetor, and an air filter. The fuel tank is located under the rear seat in front of the rear suspension. The tank is connected to atmospheric air through the ventilation system. The fuel tank filler neck has a special pipe that turns off the fuel supply to the fuel tank from the fuel nozzle when it is filled.

Depending on the type of engine, 2 types of fuel pumps are used. On HCS engines, the fuel pump is actuated by a lever, one end of which rests on an eccentric lug on the camshaft and the other end controls the fuel pump diaphragm. On CVH engines, the fuel pump is controlled by a separate pusher, which is driven from the camshaft eccentric lug and the second end acts on the pump drive lever. The fuel pumps are non-separable type and have a nylon filter. A damper is installed in the air filter housing, which controls the temperature of the air entering the engine. In one case, heated air enters from the exhaust manifold, in the other, from the front of the engine compartment.

Attention. Many operations carried out on the fuel system involve the removal of fuel lines and connections that can cause fuel to leak. Gasoline is a flammable liquid, so care must be taken when handling.
