General CVH engine data

            0

CVH engine (C – Compound, V – Valve angle, H – Hemispherical chamber) with V-shaped arrangement of valves. The camshaft, mounted on five bearings in the light alloy cylinder head, is driven by a toothed belt from the crankshaft and controls the valves via levers and hydraulic tappets.

The camshaft bearings cannot be replaced, so if they are worn, the cylinder head must be replaced. The fuel pump is mounted on the cylinder head and is actuated by a pusher from the camshaft eccentric.

The use of hydraulic tappets does not require valve clearance adjustment. When the engine is idle for a long time or after repairing the cylinder head on a cold engine, valve knocking may occur, which is considered normal and disappears as the hydraulic tappets are filled with engine oil from the engine lubrication system.

The crankshaft is mounted on five bearings and balanced by counterweights.

The gear oil pump is located at the front of the engine block and is driven directly from the crankshaft.
