Replacing the air filter element (40,000 km / 24 months)

Engines with carburetor and CFI injection system




1. Unscrew the screws or bolts and remove the air filter cover (left - 1.3L CVH engine, right - 1.4L CVH engine).



2. If present, release the clips around the perimeter of the air filter housing.



3. Remove the cover, remove the air filter element and clean the inside of the air filter housing.


4. Install a new filter element and air filter cover.

Bosch K-Jetronic injection engines



1. Remove ground wire from battery.



2. Loosen clamps (arrow) air pipe fittings.



3. Remove the air tube from the air flow meter.



4. Pull to remove the hose from the switch valve.

5. Unscrew the 6 screws securing the air flow meter.




6. Release the spring clips securing the air filter cover and disconnect the hose from the cover.



7. Lift the air flow meter together with the gasket and turn it to the side.



8. Remove the switch valve from the back of the cover.



9. Remove air filter cover.




10. Remove the air filter element.

11. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal.



12. Check that the gasket is installed correctly.

Bosch KE-Jetronic injection engines





1. unscrew 2 screws (indicated by arrows), securing the air filter housing to the air flow meter, and remove the air filter housing.




2. Release the clips, remove the cover and remove the air filter element.

3. Clean the inside surface of the air filter housing, install a new filter element and secure with clips.

4. Install the air filter housing and secure with screws.
