Remove the rear brake disc. Mark the location of the adjuster springs and brake pads.

Remove the handbrake cable from the actuator lever. Remove the springs holding the shoes by squeezing the spring with pliers and turning the pin 90°. At the same time, hold the pin from behind with your finger. Remove the spring, remove the mounting pin.

Spread the lower ends of the brake shoes. Remove the adjuster and lower tension spring from the shoes (see Fig. 9.54).

Disconnect the upper ends of the shoes from the handbrake lever, remove the upper return spring and the brake shoes. If the brake linings on the shoes are worn, replace the shoes. Clean the shoe adjuster. Clean the brake shield and apply high-temperature grease to the contact points of the brake shoes with the shield.

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Finally, adjust the handbrake.
