Handbrake working mechanism (disc brakes)

Remove the rear brake disc. Note the location of the governor springs and brake shoes.





Remove the handbrake cable from the actuator lever. Remove the springs holding the pads by compressing the spring with pliers and turning the pin 90°. Hold the pin at the back with your finger at the same time. Remove the spring, remove the fastening pin.

Separate the lower ends of the brake pads. Remove the adjuster and lower pinch spring from the shoes (see fig. 9.54).



Disconnect the upper ends of the shoes from the hand brake lever, remove the upper return spring and brake shoes. If the brake pads on the pads are worn, replace the pads. Clean the pad adjuster. Clean the brake shield and apply high temperature grease to the contact areas of the brake pads with the shield.

Installation is made in sequence, return to removal. Finally, adjust the handbrake.
