Brake pedal rod (Escort 5)

Removal

Remove the negative terminal from the battery.

Remove the brake booster.

Remove the air filter housing. Remove the bracket that secures the rod to the brake pedal.

Remove the screws on the engine compartment bulkhead and remove the tie rod assembly from the bulkhead down the engine compartment (see Fig. 9.47).



Clean the brake linkage and check the bushing for wear.

Installation

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Remove air from the brake system.
