Withdrawal

Disconnect the ground wire from the battery. Cover the clutch housing under the fuel filter with plastic film to prevent fuel from reaching the clutch.

Place a suitable container under the engine to drain the fuel and unscrew the water and fuel drain bolts located under the fuel filter by hand. Loosen the deaerator (see fig. 2E.7) to facilitate draining the fuel and wait until the fuel is completely drained from the fuel filter.

In the CAV Rotodiesel filter, unscrew the central bolt (see fig. 2E. 7) and hold the fuel filter element to be replaced and the glass sump with your hand.

In the Bosh filter, disconnect the fuel supply and return hoses from the filter and then unscrew the filter mounting yoke. Remove the filter element to be replaced.

Installation

CAV Rotodiesel injection system

Install new O-rings on the filter bracket and glass sump.

Install the replacement filter element and sump, mounting center bolt, and check that all filter elements are in the correct position.

Unscrew the deaerator and pump with a hand pump until the fuel flowing out from under the deaerator does not contain air bubbles. Screw in the deaerator.

Connect the ground wire to the battery and set the ignition key to position "II".

Use a manual fuel pump to ensure fuel flows through the fuel pump return line.

Remove the container with the collected fuel and the film covering the engine.

Start the engine and check the fuel system connections for leaks.

Bosch injection system

Install the fuel filter element to be replaced in the appropriate location and screw on the filter yoke.

Connect the fuel lines to the filter.

Connect the ground wire to the battery. Engage the starter and wait until the engine starts.

Air is removed from the filter automatically.
