Raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on stands. Remove the relevant front wheel.

Unscrew and remove the clamp bolt securing the ball joint of the lower arm to the steering knuckle. Press the transverse arm down from the steering knuckle. If you have difficulty, insert a pry bar between the arm and the car body and press the arm down.

Caution: Be careful not to damage the ball joint boot.

Unscrew the 2 bolts securing the transverse arm to the cross beam (see Fig. 10.21).

Unscrew the 2 bolts securing the transverse arm to the cross beam (see Fig. 10.21).

If the ball joint or bushing on the inside of the control arm is worn, replace the control arm as a set.

Installation

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points:
  • install the bolts securing the lever to the beam from below and screw the nuts on by hand;
  • when attaching the ball joint of the suspension arm to the steering knuckle, install the clamp bolt and, when tightening the nut, secure the bolt from turning;
  • the final tightening of the bolts securing the transverse arm to the beam should be performed after lowering the vehicle onto its wheels.
