Trunk lid lock (Escort 5)

Removal. Lock cylinder

Open the trunk lid, unscrew the screw securing the lock cylinder retaining bracket. Remove the bracket. Disconnect the drive rod on the lock cylinder and remove it from the trunk.

Open the trunk lid and remove the lock cylinder. Unscrew the 3 mounting screws and remove the lock from the lid.

Removal. Locking plate

Remove the 2 screws and the rear trunk trim. Mark the installation position of the locking plate with a soft pencil. Remove the 2 Torx bolts and remove the locking plate and remote control. Disconnect the cable from the remote control

Removal. Cable

Remove the locking plate and disconnect the cable from it. Unscrew and remove the trim from the inside of the front and rear door sills on the driver's side. Turn the floor carpet away from the trunk release handle. Remove the cable sheath from the slots in the lever mounting plate. Disconnect the cable from the lever.

Tie a thin, long cord to the cable and remove it from the car. Untie the cord and leave it in the car. You will need the cord to re-tighten the cable in place

Installation

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
