Attention. Repair of the exhaust system should be carried out only after it has completely cooled down, especially the catalytic converter.
If the exhaust system components are corroded or rusted together, the easiest way to separate them is to cut them off with a hacksaw.
When restoring the exhaust system, the following principles must be followed:
- work from the rear of the muffler to the front.
- before disassembling the exhaust system connections, use a penetrating liquid.
- use new gaskets, rubber pads and clamps when installing system components.
- lubricate the threads of all system connectors with a non-stick compound.
- if the connection is made with two bolts with a cylindrical spring, then the nuts must be tightened until they stop on the shoulders of the bolt. In this case, the spring pressure will be sufficient to ensure a tight connection.
- after installing the exhaust system on the vehicle, it is necessary to check that there is an air gap between the exhaust system, the vehicle body and other units.
