Water pump for HCS and Endura-E engines (Escort 5)

Removal

Remove the negative terminal from the battery.

Drain the coolant from the cooling system. Loosen the water pump pulley mounting bolts and remove the auxiliary drive belt (see Fig. 3.28). Unscrew the bolts and remove the pulley from the water pump.



Loosen the clamps and remove the hoses from the water pump. Unscrew the bolts and remove the water pump (see Fig. 3.29).

Installation

Clean any remaining gasket material from the mating surfaces of the water pump and engine.

The water pump is a non-separable type, therefore, if there is any defect, the pump must be replaced.

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. When installing the pump, it is necessary to use a new gasket. Fill the cooling system with coolant.
