Rear shock absorbers (Combi and Van models)

Withdrawal


Raise the rear of the car. Remove the corresponding rear wheel.

On combi models, place a jack under the arm directly below the spring and raise it just enough so that it fully bears the weight of the suspension.

Remove the lower shock absorber mounting bolt (see fig. 10.33).



On combi models, from the bottom of the car, unscrew the 2 nuts of the upper shock absorber mounting and remove the shock absorber from under the car (see fig. 10.34).



On van models, underneath the car. unscrew the 4 nuts of the upper mounting of the shock absorber to the body. Remove the shock absorber from under the car along with the upper suspension of the installation. To do this, unscrew the lock nut and remove the tie bolt (see fig. 10.35 am).



Examination


Check the condition of the upper and lower shock absorber mounting rubber bushings. Check shock absorber for fluid leaks. Check the shock absorber rod for pitting. Check up smoothness of the course and uniformity of movement of a rod.

Installation


Installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
