Removal
Raise the rear of the car and secure it on stands. Remove the rear wheels.
Place 1 jack in the center or 2 jacks at the edges under the rear axle beam and raise it enough so that the weight of the beam is supported by it.
Unscrew the rear brake hoses and plug the ends of the pipes. Remove the brake drum/hub and the brake shield on each side of the rear axle. The brake shields can be left on the axle, but you will need to remove the brake pipe from the wheel cylinder and disconnect the handbrake cable from each brake shield.
Unscrew the lower bolts securing the shock absorber to the rear axle.
Remove the nuts and U-shaped clamps securing the rear axle to the spring. Lower the rear axle and remove it from under the vehicle.
Installation
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Finally, remove air from the brake system and adjust the handbrake.
