To keep your car in excellent condition, it is necessary to perform its maintenance periodically. Maintenance can be performed either constantly or at certain intervals. These are the minimum maintenance intervals recommended by the manual.
Weekly or every 400 km
Check the following items:
- engine oil level;
- coolant level;
- brake fluid level;
- presence of water in the windshield washer;
- condition of the battery, tires, windshield wipers and all bulbs.
Every 7,500 km or 6 months (whichever comes first)
Replace engine oil and oil filter (diesel engines).
Every 10,000 km or 12 months (whichever comes first)
Replace engine oil and oil filter (petrol engines).
On OHV and HCS engines, remove and clean the oil from the filler cap.
Check all components under the hood and fluid hoses.
Visually check the condition of the fuel lines.
Check the condition of the fuel tank for leaks, corrosion and damage.
On RS Turbo models, check and tighten the exhaust manifold mounting bolts.
Check the idle speed and the amount of harmful emissions in the exhaust gases.
Clean the distributor cap, spark plug caps and spark plug wires.
Check the rear suspension level control system.
Check that the rear wheel track matches the front wheel track.
Lubricate the shaft and cam of the contact breaker on the ignition distributor.
Check the ignition timing.
On RS Turbo models, replace the spark plugs.
Check the condition of the front and rear brake pads and the brake disc and replace them if necessary.
Check the condition of the steering and front suspension for wear and damage.
Check the condition of the ball joint of the lower arm of the front suspension.
Check the condition and operation of the seat belts.
Check the condition of the car's paintwork for corrosion.
Check the condition and tension of the auxiliary drive belts.
Every 20,000 km or 1 year (whichever comes first)
In addition to all the points outlined above, do the following:
On OVH and HCS engines, check and, if necessary, adjust the valve clearances.
Check the condition of the exhaust system.
On RS Turbo models, check and tighten the turbocharger mounting bolts.
Replace spark plugs.
On the ignition distributor with a contact-type breaker, replace the contact group.
Check the level and, if necessary, top up the oil in the manual transmission.
Check the level and, if necessary, top up the oil in the automatic transmission.
Check the operation of the automatic transmission selector.
Check the condition of the drive shaft protective covers.
Check drive shafts for damage and deformation.
Check the condition of the wheels for damage.
Check the tightening torques of the wheel mounting bolts.
Lubricate all door locks and hinges, door stop, hood lock and rear door lock.
Check the operation of all doors, the hood lock, the rear door and the window lifter.
Every 40,000 km or 2 years (whichever comes first)
In addition to all the points outlined above, do the following:
Replace coolant.
Replace the air filter element.
Replace the fuel filter.
Replace the pollen filter.
On CVH engines, replace the crankcase ventilation filter.
Every 60,000 km or 3 years (whichever comes first)
In addition to all the points outlined above, do the following.
On CVH engines, replace the timing belt.
Perform a complete inspection of brake components and rubber seals for leaks and wear.
Replace brake fluid.
