Upper mount of the rack to the body
A – cars manufactured before 05.1983;
B – cars manufactured since 05.1983
Removal
1. Loosen the wheel mounting bolts, raise the vehicle, unscrew the bolts and remove the wheel.
2. Disconnect the brake hose mount on the strut (on vehicles manufactured since 05/1983).
3. Place a support under the drive shaft or tie the shaft to the steering rack housing.

4. Unscrew the tie bolt securing the strut to the steering knuckle, insert the 14-026 device into the groove of the steering knuckle and turn it 90°, spreading the shock absorber strut mount. If there is no device, the strut mount can be spread using the appropriate lever.
5. Press the steering knuckle down until the strut is completely released.
6. Place a temporary support under the shock absorber strut.
7. Unscrew the two bolts at the top securing the shock absorber strut to the body, remove the temporary support and take out the strut (cars up to 05.1983) (see Fig. Upper mount of the strut to the body).
8. Unscrew the rod mounting nut using a bent open-end wrench, while holding the rod from turning with a 6 mm wrench and remove the strut (cars from 05.1983) (see Fig. Upper strut mount to the body).
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
2. Before installing the rack into the steering knuckle, use tool 14-026 to separate the rack mounting location.
