SEQUENCE OF WORK

1. Remove the cylinder head cover.

2. Turn the crankshaft until the drive shaft completely removes the load from the pump pusher.

3. Remove the vacuum hose from the pump and plug the hole to keep dirt out.

4. Turn out at first top, then bottom fixing bolts and remove the pump from a head of the block of cylinders.

5. Before installation, clean the mounting flange on the pump and cylinder head.

6. Lubricate the new gasket with a thin layer of Vaseline and install it in the groove.

7. When installing, first screw in the lower bolt, carefully install the pump, then screw in the upper pump mounting bolt.

8. Tighten the pump mounting bolts and connect the vacuum hose.

PRACTICAL ADVICE

Prevention of brake fluid leakage

When you open the brake line (or brake hose), the brake fluid slowly flows out of the reservoir. Fluid leakage can be prevented by unscrewing the bleeder valve of the brake circuit you are working on and attaching a bleed hose to it before performing work. Insert the free end of the hose into a clean container and fully depress the brake pedal. Secure the brake pedal in the depressed position with a piece of wood or a suitable weight. In this case, the return ports in the brake master cylinder are closed and no more brake fluid flows out.
