If the brake fluid level is low, a warning lamp lights up in the Fiesta instrument cluster (Fig. 14.8). If the brake fluid level is normal, the warning lamp goes out after releasing the parking brake lever. If the lamp does not go out, the brake fluid level has dropped significantly. If the lamp starts flashing while driving, one of the hydraulic brake circuits may have failed. As a rule, the other brake circuit works, so, if you are careful, you can drive to the nearest auto repair shop. It is in such a safety-critical system of the car as the brake system that you should not completely rely on automation - check the functionality of your car's brake system from time to time.

Maintenance and repair of the brake booster
The air filter on the brake booster pushrod is dirty. Use a wire hook to remove the filter from the rod. Cut a new filter down the middle and place it in place around the pushrod. Make sure the filter fits tightly around the pushrod, otherwise unfiltered air will enter the brake booster.

If the brake booster membrane is faulty, the brake booster must be replaced, as it cannot be repaired (Fig. 14.9).
