SEQUENCE OF WORKS

1. The presence of slightly bluish tint on the surface of brake discs is normal.

2. Brake discs should not have deep scratches and grooves caused by contamination or heavily worn linings. Scratches cut deep into new brake pads, which significantly reduces their service life and impairs braking performance.

3. Worn brake discs are not treated.

4. Brake discs worn to the minimum permissible thickness must be replaced. When replacing a brake disc, the second brake disc must also be replaced to ensure uniform distribution of braking forces.

5. The best way to measure the thickness of the discs is to place a coin on both sides of the disc between the caliper and the brake disc (Fig. 14.10). To determine the wear, subtract the thickness of the coins from the result.
