Parking brake adjustment

            0

First of all, check that the parking brake cables are correctly laid in the supports and clamps. The adjustment device must also function flawlessly.

SEQUENCE OF WORK

1. Turn away a protective cover of the lever of a parking brake.

2. With the parking brake lever released, fully depress the brake pedal several times to activate the adjuster.

3. Loosen locknut 1 (pic. 14.31) and raise the parking brake lever six teeth in the direction of the sector.

4. Tighten the locknut to 4 Nm.

5. Replace the protective cover.

6. On a secondary road with little traffic, check the operation of the parking brake.

PRACTICAL ADVICE

Parking brake clearance

If the parking brake clearance increases in a short period of time, remove the brake drums and check or clean the automatic adjuster. If, despite a correct initial adjustment, the parking brake does not work properly, it is likely that the compensator is pinching one or both of the parking brake cables. Remove the front cable, clean the bolt holes and apply a preservative silicone layer from an aerosol can.
