Gear shift mechanism

Removal
1. Engage reverse gear.
2. Unscrew the handle from the gear shift lever and remove the cover.
3. Raise the vehicle and secure it on stands.
4. Loosen the bolts securing the front part of the muffler, remove the rear part of the muffler from the suspension and move it to the side.
5. Remove the heat shield under the gear shift lever (1 – bolts securing the front part of the muffler, 2 – bolts securing the heat shield.
6. Loosen the clamp bolt on the end of the gear shift rod and remove the rod from the gear selector shaft by sliding it away from the gearbox.
7. Unscrew the bolt securing the stabilizer to the gearbox (1 – washer, 2 – bushing).
8. From underneath the vehicle, unscrew the bolts securing the gearshift lever housing to the floor.
9. Unscrew the 3 screws securing the springs of the guide bushing elements of the traction rod on both sides of the housing and from below. Remove the springs and the locking pin.
10. Unscrew the 4 bolts securing the housing cover and stabilizer bracket.
11. Remove the gear shift lever from the housing together with the cover.
12. Remove the retaining ring, elastic rubber element, gasket from the gear shift lever and remove the lever.
Assembly and installation
Assembly and installation of the gear shift mechanism is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Adjustment
1. Engage 4th gear.
2. Raise the vehicle and secure it on stands.
3. Remove the rear part of the muffler from the suspension.
4. Remove the heat shield under the gear shift lever.
5. Loosen the gear shift rod clamp bolt and remove the rod from the gearbox.
6. Insert the rod into the gearshift rod on the gearbox and, turning it in both directions, determine the middle position.
7. In the found middle position, turn the rod left and right to determine the middle position in the perpendicular plane and move the gear shift shaft onto the rod.
8. Set the gear shift lever in the car to the 4th gear position.
9. Using a 3.5 mm pin, secure the gearshift lever into the hole at the bottom of the gear selector mechanism box. Insert the locking pin from the left only.
10. Tighten the gear shift rod with the clamp bolt.
11. Remove the pin and check for ease of gear shifting.
12. Install the heat shield and hook the muffler.
13. Lower the car.
