Connecting the accelerator cable to the control lever on the high pressure fuel pump.

Removal
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
2. Remove the trim under the dashboard.

3. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the pedal by holding the end of the cable and pulling the accelerator pedal away from the floor of the vehicle.
4. Push the accelerator cable guide bushing out of the bulkhead into the passenger compartment.
5. Pull the accelerator cable into the engine compartment.
6. Disconnect the second end of the accelerator cable from the spherical head on the lever that controls the fuel supply of the fuel pump. To do this, use a narrow screwdriver to lift the locking clip on the spherical head and remove the head upwards. On later models, the end of the cable has a plastic eyelet that is removed upwards from the lever that controls the fuel supply of the high-pressure fuel pump.
7. Remove the adjusting clamp from the accelerator cable holder by successively pressing the 4 locking levers with a screwdriver. At the same time, press the clamp against the holder and then pull it out through the hole in the holder.
Installation
Attention! The accelerator cable must not be bent even slightly. A cable that has been bent must not be installed on the vehicle.
1. Pass the cable through the partition and insert the guide bushing.
2. Connect the cable end to the accelerator pedal and push the cable housing into the guide sleeve.
3. Guide the cable into the holder on the high-pressure fuel pump until the retaining tabs of the adjusting clamp are locked. Screw in the adjusting screw completely.
4. Connect the accelerator cable to the lever on the high pressure fuel pump and adjust the accelerator cable.
Adjusting the cable
1. Press the accelerator pedal all the way down and lock it in this position.
2. Loosen the adjusting screw so that the fuel supply lever on the fuel pump is in the maximum fuel supply position.
3. Release the accelerator pedal, press it again and check the maximum fuel supply setting. If necessary, re-adjust.
4. Install the trim under the dashboard.
5. Connect the ground wire to the battery.
