Removal
Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
Raise the vehicle and remove the three nuts securing the exhaust manifold to the turbocharger flange.
Disconnect the turbocharger oil return line from the engine crankcase (unscrew the two flanges, then pull the line up and towards the turbocharger).
Lower the car.
Remove the air supply pipe to the filter and to the turbocharger.
Disconnect the pipe attached to the radiator cap.
Disconnect the engine crankcase ventilation pipe from the cylinder head cover.
Unscrew the two bolts securing the crankcase ventilation pipe to the intake manifold.
Disconnect the air supply line from the turbocharger inlet.
Remove the air supply connector to the intake manifold.
Plug the open holes in the turbocharger.
Disconnect the oil lines connecting the turbocharger to the oil cooler.
Unscrew the bolts and nuts securing the exhaust manifold to the engine cylinder head.
Remove the exhaust and intake manifolds.
Remove the three bolts securing the turbocharger to the exhaust manifold and remove the turbocharger and gasket.
Installation
Caution: New turbocharger and exhaust manifold mounting nuts must be used each time during installation.
Attach the exhaust outlet connector to the turbocharger together with a new gasket. Tighten the mounting nuts to the specified torque.
Install a new turbocharger connection gasket onto the exhaust manifold flange.
Install the turbocharger on the exhaust manifold and tighten the mounting nuts to the appropriate torque.
Install a new exhaust manifold gasket onto the cylinder head.
Connect the oil return line to the turbocharger. Insert the line deep into the connection.
Position the turbocharger with the exhaust manifold in the engine compartment. Install this unit relative to the cylinder head, screw in the bolts and nuts, without tightening them completely.
Connect the oil return line to the engine.
Tighten the exhaust manifold to cylinder head mounting nuts and bolts sequentially (in three stages) to 24 Nm.
Perform the remaining steps to install the turbocharger in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the threaded connections to the required torques.
