Replacing the front brake disc

Examination


Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands. Remove the corresponding front wheel.

Temporarily tighten the 2 wheel bolts diagonally. Install the nuts with the flat side facing the brake disc.

Clean the disc from corrosion and check it for wear and defects. Using a micrometer, check the disc thickness (see figure 9.18).



Using a dial gauge, check brake disc runout. It is checked at a distance of 10 mm from the outer edge of the disc (see fig. 9.19).



Withdrawal


Remove the caliper and holder without disconnecting the brake hose. Using a soft wire, hang the caliper from the A-pillar. Unscrew the 2 wheel nuts that were screwed in when checking the wheel.

Unscrew the screw securing the brake disc to the hub and remove the disc.

Installation


Installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
