Replacing the inner hinge protective cover (Escort 4)

1. Secure the vehicle with the parking brake.

2. Raise the front of the car.

3. Unscrew the fastening and remove the ball joint from the steering knuckle.

4. If there is an anti-roll bar, unscrew the lower suspension arm mounting bolt and remove the arm.

5. Remove both clamps securing the protective cover and slide the cover along the shaft.

6. Remove grease from the joint (to provide access to the retaining ring) and remove the retaining ring.

7. Remove the shaft from the joint and remove the protective cover.

8. Install a new protective cover and perform all actions in the reverse order of removing the cover.
