2. The rear axle load sensing valve (LAV) is mounted on the chassis in front of the rear axle and is controlled by a lever and a load-sensing spring connected between the valve and the rear axle (see Figure 18.2).

3. The only reason for removing the valve is its malfunction, however, in case of removing the rear axle, the valve spring must be removed (see Chapter 8, Section 8).
The valve must be readjusted if it has been removed. This requires the use of specialized equipment, so removal and installation of this unit should be entrusted to a Ford dealer.
