Removal (models before 1996)
Remove the ground wire from the battery. Unscrew the 2 screws and remove the storage compartment above the cigarette lighter.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the cigarette lighter through the opening in the stowage compartment. Using a thin-bladed screwdriver, release the fastening elements of the cigarette lighter to the front panel. Push from behind to remove the cigarette lighter from the lighting ring. If necessary, the lighting ring can be removed by pulling it toward you.
Removal (models from 1996)
Remove the ground cable from the battery. Remove the storage compartment above the cigarette lighter by simply pulling it toward you. Disconnect the electrical connector from the cigarette lighter through the opening in the storage compartment. Remove the cigarette lighter housing by pressing the ashtray to the side to release the mounting tabs and remove the ashtray and cigarette lighter housing from the panel.
Release the cigarette lighter housing fastening elements and remove the cigarette lighter from the ashtray.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
