Differential (G-type axle) — overhaul (Transit 2)

1. The design and arrangement of the G-type axle is such that any attempt to remove the differential or final drive assembly from the axle housing disrupts their mutual adjustment.

2. Adjusting the correct relative position of the driving and driven gears of the final drive requires special tools and skills, so it is recommended not to remove, disassemble and assemble the differentials yourself, but to contact a workshop.

3. Currently, there are no individual differential components available for sale, only ready-made sets of factory-assembled differential units.

4. Inspect the differential to assess the degree of wear and damage to parts. To do this, unscrew the bolts, remove the rear cover of the differential housing and drain the oil from the differential housing into a drain container.

5. Before installing the rear cover, clean the surfaces of the cover and the axle housing and remove any remaining old gasket. Clean the bolt threads and holes.

6. Install a new gasket and rear cover, apply sealant to the bolt threads and screw them in. Tighten them to the required torque, one after the other.

7. Fill the required amount of recommended oil to the level of the lower edge of the filler hole, and then install the plug (see if necessary. section 1).
