Hydraulic unit


Remove the negative terminal from the battery. Remove the electrical connectors from the brake fluid level sensor in the brake fluid reservoir cap and the hydraulic lines of the valve body. Pump out the brake fluid from the reservoir. Mark the brake pipes and disconnect them from the master cylinder. Close the pipes with plugs (see Fig. 9.65).

Unscrew the union nuts and disconnect the pipes from the rear of the hydraulic unit. Close the pipes with plugs.

Unscrew the nut securing the electrical connector and the nut and bolt securing the hydraulic unit to the bracket. Remove the unit from the bracket (see Fig. 9.66).

Using a lever, remove the return brake pipes from the hydraulic unit (see Fig. 9.67). Close them with plugs.

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Fill with brake fluid and remove air from the brake system.

ABS module


Remove the negative terminal from the battery. The module is located at the rear of the engine compartment on the side opposite the battery. Disconnect the clamp and remove the connector from the ABS module. Unscrew the 3 mounting bolts and remove the module from the engine compartment (see Fig. 9.68).

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

ABS sensor mounted on the car wheel


The ABS sensor installed on the car wheel is secured to the front of the steering knuckle. Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands. Disconnect the connector from the ABS sensor wire. Unscrew the mounting bolt and remove the sensor from the steering knuckle.



Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. When installing the sensor in the socket, check that the mating surfaces are clean and free of oil.

ABS ring sensor mounted on the car wheel


Remove the steering knuckle, then the wheel hub from the knuckle.

Unscrew the bolts that secure the ring sensor to the hub. In some cases, the ring sensor is pressed onto the hub. Therefore, use a puller to remove the sensor from the hub.

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Before installing the ABS ring sensor into the hub, clean the mating surfaces.
