Draining sediment from the fuel filter (every 10,000 km or 6 months) (Transit 2)

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. To prevent leaking fuel from damaging the starter, it is advisable to cover the starter with a plastic bag or something similar. Place a container under the filter to collect any leaking fuel.

3. Unscrew the drain screw at the bottom of the filter. If fuel does not flow, loosen the auxiliary drain screw or the fuel inlet connection on the filter head.

4. Once the fuel has drained, tighten the drain screw (and, if necessary, an auxiliary drain screw or fuel inlet connection). If the filter head is equipped with a manual priming pump, use it to bleed the system until you feel resistance. If a manual priming pump is not installed, the fuel system will bleed itself when the engine is started.

5. Remove the plastic bag from the starter and connect the battery.

6. Dispose of the drained fuel and water properly (see section "General repair procedures" in the introductory part of this guide).
