Anti-theft system (Escort 5)

This system provides additional protection for the vehicle with an audible alarm. When the system is on, the audible alarm will sound if the doors, hood or rear door are opened. The alarm will also sound if the ignition is turned on or the radio is removed with the system on (see Fig. 12.76).



The anti-theft alarm system is activated whenever any of the front doors is locked with the key. The system operates on all doors, the bonnet and the boot lid or the rear door whenever each door is individually locked with the key or if the central locking system is present and activated.

An additional feature of the system is that if the system is turned on and the battery is disconnected, the system will turn on again when the battery is connected, so it is necessary to check that the system is turned off before removing the battery when carrying out repair work.

The system has a self-diagnosis device for faults, so when connecting special equipment it is very easy to identify a fault in the system.
