Removing the power window handle

1. On Ghia models, release the mounting clips and remove the panel trim.
2. Remove window handle (see fig. Removing the power window handle), for which purpose remove a decorative plastic plug on the axis of rotation of the handle and unscrew the screws that have opened at the same time (indicated by arrows).
3. To remove the upholstery of the Escort front door from 1986, unscrew the screws indicated by the arrows.
4. On vehicles with power windows, use a screwdriver to remove the switches and disconnect the connector.
5. Unscrew the two screws and remove the armrest. The screws can be covered with plastic plugs.
6. Pull the frame of the inner door lock handle back to remove it from the retainer tabs.
7. Remove the door upholstery, for which, while holding the door, pull the upholstery towards you and pull it out of the clips (model before December 1985).
8. Unscrew two screws on both sides of the door and, having released the door from the clamps, remove it upwards (models since 1986).
9. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
10. Replace damaged clips if necessary (the arrows indicate the installation locations of the fastening clips of the door upholstery).
