Your vehicle has loops at the front and rear for a tow rope or rod.
Warning! The ignition key must be in position II when the vehicle is towed to ensure that the turn signals, brake lights, and steering function operate.
Since the brake and steering boosters do not operate when the engine is off, you will have to apply more force to the brake pedal and steering wheel and be aware of the increased stopping distance.
Starting the engine by towing (with manual transmission)
The engine can be started by towing or pushing the car without the use of a second battery:
- Turn the ignition key to position II.
- Press the accelerator pedal
- Depress the clutch pedal and engage third gear.
- Push or tow the car while gradually releasing the clutch pedal.
Note: Cars with automatic transmission cannot be started by towing or pushing.
Vehicles with electronic fuel injection cannot be towed or pushed if the battery is dead, as the control module and fuel pump will not operate.
Warning: Vehicles equipped with a catalytic converter should not be tow-started at normal engine operating temperature. Use a jumper connection to the battery of another car.
Towing a car with an automatic transmission
When towing a car with an automatic transmission, the gearshift lever must be in the N (neutral) position. The towing speed must not exceed 50 km/h and the distance must not exceed 50 km. When towing the car for a longer distance, the driving wheels must be raised above the road.
