Distributor — removal and installation

            0

Withdrawal

1. Disconnect the primary wire from the coil (see section 6).

2. Disconnect the electrical connector of the module (see picture).

3. Find a number "1" on the distributor cap (see picture), which marks the #1 cylinder spark plug wire terminal.

4. Remove the distributor cap (see chapter 1).

5. If you have a remote starter:

A) remove spark plug from cylinder #1 (see chapter 1).

b) Connect the remote starter to the starter relay and battery positive according to the manufacturer's instructions.

V) Crank the engine carefully by turning the ignition key in and out, or by quickly depressing and releasing the remote control starter switch button until the slider is against the #1 cylinder terminal.

G) Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal.

d) go to paragraph 7.

6. If you don't have a remote starter.

A) disconnect the wire from "minus" battery.

b) screw the big bolt into the crankshaft. Connect the ratchet and socket to the bolt.

V) turn the crankshaft until the slider points to the #1 spark plug wire contact.

7. Make a mark on the edge of the distributor base under and coaxial with the tab on the slider (if there are a lot of protrusions, for definiteness, use the central one) (see picture). Also mark the distributor base and engine block to ensure that the distributor is installed correctly.

8. Unscrew the lower bolt holder of the distributor, remove the clamp (see picture), then pull the distributor straight up to remove it. Be careful not to scratch the drive center shaft.

Caution: do not turn the crankshaft after removing the distributor, otherwise the marks made will be useless.

Installation

9. Insert the distributor into the engine block in exactly the same position as you removed it.

10. It may be necessary to slightly turn the slider to engage the screw drives on the camshaft and distributor. If the distributor does not fully engage, then the hexagonal groove at the bottom of the distributor shaft does not line up with the oil pump shaft. Recheck the position of the marks from the base of the distributor to the block to make sure that the distributor is in the same position as it was before disassembly. Check if the mark on the slider matches the mark at the edge of the distributor base. Then, using the socket head and ratchet, turn the crankshaft in the direction of its normal rotation (clockwise when viewed from the front). Since the mechanism on the distributor shaft is connected to the camshaft mechanism, their position relative to each other will change until the distributor is removed from the engine. So the slider will rotate but the oil pump shaft will not, because the two shafts are not connected yet. At the moment when this hexagonal groove at the end of the distributor shaft is aligned with the oil pump shaft, the distributor will cover the pump shaft from above and its housing will take an unambiguous position relative to the block.

Note: If the crankshaft was moved with the distributor removed, determine the TDC for piston No. 1 by removing the spark plug from the first cylinder and using the remote starter (or a socket head with a ratchet on the crankshaft pulley), turn the crankshaft so that the TDC mark on its pulley (see chapter 2) coincided with the stationary pointer on the camshaft timing chain cover. Make sure piston #1 is exactly at TDC on the compression stroke (not at the beginning of the suction stroke).

11. Once the distributor base is in line with the block, rotate the distributor to align the marks on the distributor base and on the block.

12. After the labels are aligned, the slider will point to the mark. made on the distributor body.

13. Replace the clamp and install the bolt.

14. Put on the distributor cover and tighten the cover screws securely.

15. Connect an electrosocket of the block of ignition.

16. Reconnect the wires to the spark plugs.

17. Connect a wire to the negative plug of the accumulator.

18. Check ignition timing (see section 8) and securely tighten the bottom bolt-holder of the distributor.
