Manual gearbox (Escort 5)

The manual transmission has four or five synchronized forward gears and a reverse gear. When engaging the reverse gear, press the clutch pedal and after a few seconds engage the gear.

To engage reverse gear, lift the locking ring up and move the gearshift lever to the right and back, or move the lever to the left, press down and then move forward (for a 4-speed gearbox), or press down and move to the right and back (for a 5-speed gearbox).
