Replacement of bearings of a nave of a back wheel

            0

SEQUENCE OF WORK

1. Raise the car in a horizontal position and secure it on supports. Loosen the bolts and remove the rear wheel.

2. Turn away an adjusting nut on the lever of a drive of a parking brake. Pre-squeeze the rubber protective cap and lift it up the lever.

3. Disconnect the automatic brake pad adjuster.

4. Carefully lift the cap off the wheel hub.

5. Unscrew the wheel hub nut, while holding the wrench in a horizontal position, and remove the hub together with the brake drum (pic. 13.21).

6. Use a large screwdriver to remove the oil seal from the inside of the hub (when installing, use a new oil seal).

7. Using a hammer and a suitable punch, remove the rotating outer race of the bearing from the wheel hub.

8. Remove the inner bearing from the hub axle with two screwdrivers.

9. Clean the wheel hub and carefully install the new bearing inner races until they rest against the hub collar. When installing, do not distort the bearing rings.

10. Fill new bearings with lithium grease (e.g. LM-320). Clean the oil seal, fill it halfway with new grease.

11. Carefully push the new oil seal into the hub until it stops. The seal lip must be on the bearing side. At the same time, lubricate the sealing lip with lithium grease.

12. Install the inner bearing in the bearing ring and, together with the hub, put it on the hub axle. If necessary, hammer the hub into place through a wooden or rubber lining with light blows of a hammer.

13. Install the outer bearing on the hub axle and secure it in the inner race of the bearing.

14. Tighten the new hub nut to 250–290 Nm. Wheel bearings are not adjustable, they are made with such small tolerances that when the hub nut is tightened, the required wheel bearing clearance is automatically set.

15. Install the cap on the wheel hub.

16. Press (but not to the floor of the body) on the brake pedal until there is pre-pressure in the brake system.

17. Adjust the parking brake.
