Removing the rear shock absorber

            0

The coil spring in the rear suspension has a very high compression force, so it requires the use of a special Ford spring compressor #14-018 or at least two commercially available spring compressors. When using a special device for spring compression, it is necessary to securely grasp the coils of the spring and compress the spring from opposite sides. Never tie the spring with wire.

When installing new springs, be sure to make sure they fit your vehicle. Springs of one axis are changed only in pairs.

SEQUENCE OF WORK

1. Raise the car in a horizontal position and secure it on supports. Remove wheels.

2. Release the bottom fastening of a shock-absorber rack.

3. Release the upper strut mount in the dome.

4. Carefully remove the shock absorber from the wheel arch.

5. Dismantling the shock absorber strut of the rear suspension is carried out in the same way as disassembling the shock absorber strut of the front suspension (pic. 13.20).

6. When installing, first fix the upper part of the shock absorber strut.

7. Insert the lower edge of the shock absorber strut into the trailing arm of the independent suspension and pre-tighten the bolt connections by hand.

8. Lower the vehicle and securely tighten all bolted connections.
