Removal
1. A specially shaped 32mm wrench is required to unscrew the coupling from the hub. The wrench should be 5mm thick and curved to engage the edges of the lock nut. Wrenches designed for this purpose are sold in auto parts stores (see Figure 5.1). Note that unlike the couplings found on most Ford vehicles, the unit found on the Ford Transit Diesel has a normal right-hand thread and unscrews in the normal manner.

2. Place a wrench on the coupling nut and unscrew the unit from the water pump hub (see figure 5.2a,b). To prevent the pulley from turning when removing the clutch, hold it with a repair key. If necessary, lightly tapping with a wrench will help release the clutch.
3. After removing the unit, unscrew the fan blades from the coupling by unscrewing the four fixing bolts.

Installation
4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
