Removal
1. Slide the glass so that the window is open. When working in the interior, push out the edge of the glass seal from the top corner and, pulling on the edge, pull the seal out along the perimeter of the glass.
2. Ask an assistant to hold the glass from the outside while you push it out from the inside.
Installation
3. To install the glass in place, you will need strong twine and two assistants. After installing the weatherstripping strip on the window opening, insert the string into its groove so that the ends of the string intersect in one of the bottom corners.
4. Bring the glass from the outside to the opening, passing the ends of the string through the opening. Ask two assistants to press on the glass from the outside while you pull the ends of the string at a 90° angle to the glass so that the edge of the seal gradually fits into the window opening. As the string moves along the edges of the opening, assistants should apply pressure to the glass near the end of the string, as this improves the seal's contact with the window (see Figure 20.4).

5. Once the glass is in place, tap the seal around the perimeter with your palm to seat it.
