Removing the trunk lid

SEQUENCE OF WORK

1. Disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the storage battery.

2. Remove an upholstery of a luggage carrier together with a rubber consolidation.

3. Disconnect a contact socket from a heater of back glass and a screen wiper. Disconnect the hose from the rear window washer jet.

4. Support the trunk lid.

5. Remove the gas-filled stops from the ball joints by slightly lifting the mounting brackets with a screwdriver blade (pic. 17.13).

6. Mark position of hinges of a cover of a luggage carrier.

7. Turn out four bolts and with the assistant remove a cover of a luggage carrier.

8. Install the trunk lid, fasten the hinges by hand with bolts and align the lid with respect to the mating surfaces.


9. Tighten bolts of fastening of hinges of a cover of a luggage carrier the moment of 10 Н·м.

10. Further installation of the wing is carried out in the reverse order of removal.



PRACTICAL ADVICE

Removing the trunk lid

To make it easier to retract the wires and hoses after installing the trunk lid, tie thin cords to them before removing them. After pulling out the wires and hoses, untie the cords and leave them in the trunk lid. These cords can then be used to easily pull wires and hoses into the trunk lid.

Replacing the rubber seal

1. Check the condition of the boot lid rubber seal. Leaky places give out traces of dust and moisture on both sides of the sealing surface. If the seal is porous or cracked, replace it. To do this, completely remove the seal and clean the edge of the old sealing mass and dirt.

2. Apply fresh silicone putty sparingly to the grooves. Insert the rubber seal around the lock and press it around the perimeter of the trunk lid. Cut the protruding ends of the rubber seal with side cutters. The boot lid must be closed completely with a certain preload. Tap the installed rubber seal carefully with a rubber mallet.
