Replacing the manual control cable (Fiesta 2)

Set the manual control lever to the "L" position, i.e. for driving in lower gears in difficult road conditions.

Unscrew the manual control lever handle and remove the cover from the manual control lever mechanism housing.

Remove the console (Fig. 3.46).

Set the manual control lever to position "P".

Remove the manual control lever.

Remove the control cable by pulling the plastic ring catch with a screwdriver (Fig. 3.47).

Unscrew the cable housing bracket from the gearbox housing.

Raise the car.

Disconnect the cable from the gearbox (Fig. 3.48).

The cable is installed in the following order.

Insert the new cable through the hole in the floor and install the rubber grommet with the boot.

Put the car on the parking brake.

Attach the cable to the manual control lever (Fig. 3.50). The O-ring should be directed towards the tip of the rod. Squeeze with pliers until the compression of the eye hole is noticeable.

Secure the cable housing to the gearbox housing.

Install the console, hand control lever and body floor trim.

Set the control lever to position "P".

Raise the car.

Adjust the length of the control cable.

To do this, you must first make sure that the control lever is in the "P" position. The car wheels must be blocked from rotating.

With this type of installation of mechanisms, it is possible to rearrange the rod in the forks.



If this is not possible and the rod cannot be inserted into the fork holes, the shell support on the bracket must be adjusted using the method described earlier (see Fig. 3.44).
