External handle (models before 1995)



Removal



1. Remove the door trim (see previous section).

2. Through the holes in the inner door panel, unscrew the two Torx screws and remove the handle (see Figure 10.2).

Installation



3. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

External handle (models since 1995)



Removal



4. Remove the front door glass and window regulator as described in Section 18.

5. Using a suitable drill, drill out the four rivets securing the lock panel (see Figure 10.5)

6. Using a sharp knife, cut away the adhesive film that secures the lock panel to the outer door trim and remove the panel.

7. Remove the screw securing the rear glass guide to the door, pull it down, unhook it from the top clip and remove the panel.

8. Remove the three screws securing the lock to the door and pull the lock out slightly to access the handle.

9. Unscrew the two screws and remove the outer handle.

Installation



10. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Use new rivets to attach the lock panel to the door.

Door lock cylinder (models before 1995)



Removal



11. Remove the inner door trim as described in the previous Section.

12. Release the latch securing the lock cylinder using a screwdriver as a lever, then remove the lock and separate the lever linkage (see Figure 10.12).

Installation



13. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Door lock cylinder (models since 1995)



Removal



14. Remove the front door glass and window regulator as described in Section 18.

15. Using a suitable drill, drill out the four rivets that secure the lock panel to the door (see Figure 10.5).

16. Remove the lock panel by using a sharp knife to cut off part of the adhesive film that attaches the panel to the outer door trim.

17. Unscrew the screw securing the rear glass guide to the door, pull it down, unhook it from the upper clip and remove the panel.

18. Remove the three screws securing the lock to the door and pull the lock out slightly to access the handle.

19. Release the lock and disconnect the rod from the lock cylinder.

20. Disconnect the central locking reversing switch from the lock cylinder (if equipped).

21. Remove the retainer securing the lock cylinder using a suitable screwdriver as a lever, then remove the cylinder.

Installation



22. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Use new rivets to secure the lock panel to the door.

Door lock (models before 1995)



Removal



23. Remove the inner door trim (see previous section).

24. Remove the lock handle by unscrewing the two Torx screws (see Figure 10.24).

25. Unscrew the three fixing screws and remove the door lock together with the rods and the lock opening mechanism (see Figure 10.25). After removing the lock, disconnect the rods from the mounting clamps.

Installation



26. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Do not fully tighten the lock mounting screws until the tie rods and lock release mechanism are in place and secured.

Door lock (models since 1995)



Removal



27. Remove the front door glass and window regulator as described in section 18.

28. Using a suitable drill, drill out the four rivets that secure the lock panel to the door (see Figure 10.5.).

29. Remove the lock panel by using a sharp knife to cut off part of the adhesive film that secures the panel to the outer door trim.

30. Unscrew the screw securing the rear glass guide to the door, pull it down, unhook it from the upper clip and remove the panel.

31. Remove the three screws securing the lock to the door and pull the lock out slightly for better access. Disconnect the central locking plug, if equipped.

32. Release the lock and disconnect the rod from the lock cylinder.

33. Remove the lock, then carefully release the latches and remove the protective cover (see Figure 10.33).

34. Disconnect the remote lock release cable from the lock and remove the lock (see Figure 10.34).

35. If necessary, the central locking system motor can be removed (if it is installed) from the lock, for which you should unscrew two screws and turn the engine to separate the thrust.

Installation



36. Installation is in order. reverse removal. Use new rivets to secure the lock panel to the door.

Lock opening mechanism with a cable (models since 1995)



Removal



37. Remove the inner door trim (see previous section).

38. Unscrew the screw securing the lock opening mechanism to the door.

39. Remove the opening mechanism and remove the plastic cover.

40. Separate the plastic end of the cable sheath from the lock opening mechanism. Press lightly on the lock release handle in the locked position to align the groove with the cable end (see Figure 10.40).

41. Press the cable end downwards to disconnect it from the lock release mechanism, then remove the mechanism.

42. To remove the cable completely, remove the door lock as described previously and disconnect the other end of the cable from the lock.

Installation



43. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
