Removing the windshield wiper gear motor (Fiesta 4)

SEQUENCE OF WORKS

1. Raise the windshield wiper arms, turn on the gear motor for 30 sec. Turn off the gear motor - the windshield wiper arms should return to their original position.

2. Disconnect the battery and remove the wiper arms.

3. Remove the rubber seal from the edge of the front wall.

4. Remove the fuse box cover.

4. Remove the fuse box cover.

5. Unscrew the two bolts on the right side of the front wall trim (Fig. 3.25).

6. Unscrew the two bolts on the left side of the front wall trim (Fig. 3.26).

7. Unscrew the windshield wiper motor gearbox mounting bolts (Fig. 3.27).

8. Disconnect the universal connector from the gear motor.

9. Remove the gear motor together with the traction system.

10. Unscrew three bolts and one nut, disconnect the gear motor and lever rods.

11. Before installation, check whether the gear motor actually returns the levers to their original position. To do this, connect the universal connector and briefly turn on the gear motor.

12. Connect the gear motor to the lever rods (tightening torques for bolts 10 Nm, nuts 25 Nm). Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

13. After installation, check the operation of the windshield wiper on a wet glass. If necessary, adjust the position of the windshield wiper arms.
