Note: The following procedures require Ford Special Tool #17-029.
1. With the parking brake applied, jack up the front of the vehicle and support it on jack stands.
2. Release the clips and remove the lower engine soundproofing cover, which consists of two parts.
3. Loosen the lock nut of the front brake band adjusting screw a few turns (see figure 2.3).

4. Place the special tool on the brake band adjusting screw and tighten the screw until the ratchet on the tool engages the tooth.
5. Loosen the adjusting screw two turns and, holding the screw in this position, tighten the lock nut.
6. Loosen the lock nut of the center brake band adjusting screw a few turns.
7. Place the special tool on the brake band adjusting screw and tighten the screw until the ratchet on the tool engages the tooth.
8. Loosen the adjusting screw two and a half turns and, holding the screw in this position, tighten the lock nut.
9. Install the lower engine sound deadening cover and lower the vehicle to the ground.
