Removing the starter (Fiesta 4)

There are many reasons why a starter may fail. The solenoid or carbon brushes may be stuck or worn out. The armature shaft may be stuck in the bearings



SEQUENCE OF WORKS

1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Loosen the nut, disconnect the main power wire from the starter and remove the control wire from the traction relay.

On a diesel engine, unscrew the starter support mounting bolt (at the rear of the starter housing).

3. Unscrew the three bolts securing the starter to the clutch housing and remove the starter (Fig. 15.13).
