1986 and 1987 models
1. Using a small screwdriver, pry out the two buttons - plugs from the base of the front of the console, unscrew the two fixing screws (see picture).

Note: The automatic transmission is column mounted.
2. Use a small screwdriver to pry the panel out of the shift window.
3. Unscrew the screw (s) attaching console to front floor bracket (one screw on models with floor-mounted manual transmission and column-mounted automatic transmission and two screws on models with floor-mounted automatic transmission).
4. Press the rear extension panel outward and remove the three screws securing the console to the floor bracket.
5. Push the shift lever all the way back on floor mount models, slide the console back and lift up to access the electrical connectors.
6. Disconnect electrosockets and remove the console from the car.
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
1988 models
8. Open the armrest door, unscrew the two screws securing the door hinge and remove the door (see picture).

9. Lift both hinge covers to access the bolt connecting the armrest base and support bracket.
10. Unscrew the bolt and remove the console base and armrest base assembly.
11. Install in reverse order.
