Models produced in 1986 and 1987
1. Using a small screwdriver, remove the two button plugs from the base of the front of the console and unscrew the two mounting screws (see figure).

Note: The automatic transmission is column mounted.
2. Use a small screwdriver to pry the panel off the gear shift window.
3. Remove the screw(s) securing the console to the front floor bracket (one screw on models with floor-mounted manual transmission and column-mounted automatic transmission, and two screws on models with floor-mounted automatic transmission).
4. Push the rear extension panel outward and remove the three screws securing the console to the floor bracket.
5. Move the shift lever back as far as it will go on floor mounted models, slide the console back and lift it up to access the electrical connectors.
6. Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the console from the vehicle.
7. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
1988 models
8. Open the armrest door, unscrew the two screws securing the door hinge and remove the door (see figure).

9. Lift both hinge covers to access the bolt that connects the armrest base to the support bracket.
10. Unscrew the bolt and remove the console base and armrest base block.
