Overdrive Solenoid Valve — removal and installation (Transit 2)

Removal



1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. With the parking brake applied, jack up the front of the vehicle and secure it on supports.

3. Support the gearbox with a jack and unscrew the overdrive fixing bolt with a large washer from the cross beam.

4. Remove the bolt securing the transmission cross member to the support bracket on the left side.

5. After unscrewing the two bolts securing the transmission cross beam bracket to the body, remove the cross beam.

6. Disconnect the solenoid valve wiring, release the cable mount and unscrew the valve from the overdrive unit (see Figure 12.6).

Installation



7. Install in the reverse order of removal; when installing the solenoid valve, use a new oil seal.
