Replacing the multifunction switch (Taurus 1 and 2)

Replacing the multi-function switch - flashing turn signal / hazard warning lights / headlight switch from low to high beam / flashing high beam.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. On models with adjustable tilt steering column, lower to the lowest position, loosen the locking screw and pull out the tilt adjustment lever (see illustration).

1. Upper casing.
2. Multi-position switch.
3. Screw (2 pieces).
4. Steering column tilt adjustment lever.
5. Screw.
6. Wire retainer.
7. Lower casing.
8. Wire block.


3 Remove the ignition key lock cylinder (section 8).

4 Unscrew the three retaining screws and remove the steering column cover.

5. Unscrew the two retaining screws, pull out the switch, disconnect the connector and remove the switch assembly from the steering column (see figure).

6. Insert the electrical connector, install the new switch in place, tighten the screws. Tighten the screws securely.



7. Install the steering column cover.

8. Install the ignition key lock cylinder.

9. Install the steering column tilt adjustment lever.

10. Connect the negative battery cable.
