How to use this Chapter
This Section of Chapter 2 covers engine removal and installation, repairs that require the engine to be removed from the vehicle, and major refurbishment of engine components. It includes only those Specifications that comply with these procedures. Refer to Part A of this chapter for additional information Specifications, if required.
General information
The sections below contain information ranging from tips on preparing for an overhaul and purchasing replacement parts, to detailed step-by-step procedures for removing and reinstalling internal engine components, as well as inspecting and testing engine parts.
The information below is based on the assumption that the engine has been removed from the vehicle. Information concerning repair procedures on an installed engine, and procedures for removing and installing external engine components that are necessary in preparation for an engine overhaul, is provided in Parts A and B of this chapter and in Section 8 this part of the Chapter.
