Engine diagnostics based on knocking sounds from the engine compartment (Fiesta 4)

            0

When the engine is cold, light knocks from the engine compartment are not necessarily a cause for concern. Hard metallic knocks when the engine is warm almost always indicate serious damage. The most common damage occurs on the connecting rod bearing shells. The main crankshaft bearings, of which there are five in the Fiesta, are damaged much less often. If a bearing is damaged, a thorough inspection of the engine is required. If this happens, it is enough to replace the connecting rod or main bearing shell - a specialist will offer you a major repair (grinding the crankshaft, nitriding, replacing bearings and shells) or replacing engine components.
